Take one day at a time and learn to appreciate everything for what it is…and just that…a learning experience.

Sandra Magura worked as an Executive Administrative Assistant for 10 years. She was used to a 9-5 plus the frequent overtime, nights and weekends. Even though she loved the work, after having kids life got too complicated to keep running that lifestyle. While she was trying to figure out how to balance her job and growing family, Sandra read Dave Ramsey’s – Total Money Makeover. It was helpful in motivating her to start a side hustle and be a full time mom. ” My husband and I talked about how we could make it work with me going back to work full time and decided to budget real hard and have me stay home with the kids”.

Starting Over

She decided to put her degree in Communications/Business and Marketing to work and started advertising herself as a professional organizer.
Sandra has always been good at organizing…and most importantly she loved doing it. She also loved helping people. So she threw up an ad on Craigslist and Facebook as a professional organizer. Sandra was working for $10 an hour (which is super low) but it was her way in.

Being a professional organizer also let her work around the kids schedules. “I had two people contact me and started working during the week while our 4 year old was in school in the mornings 3 days a week and then on weekends when my husband could be home with the kids”.  She kept advertising, raised her rates, and her business was up and running. She has clients locally and in DC and around Northern Virginia and Maryland. “I am able to get my kids on and off the bus, be there for science fair judging, but able to have my own business and contribute to our family finances”.

Initially Sandra tended to overextend herself. She was working like crazy making money but quickly found that that wasn’t helping her family. She needed to learn to take breaks. It took a little while to settle in a work life balance but she is a professional organizer after all.

Finding Freedom

Now Sandra not only has time freedom, she has flexibility in what type of client she wants to take on and what type of work she wants to do. “I love that I can be home for my kids to get them on and off the bus. I love that I can have lunch with my kids in school and read to the Kindergartners”.

Sandra is now also putting her Dave Ramsey knowledge to work and offering financial coaching as well. This cuts down on the commuting she needs to do for her organizing jobs and allows her to help more people – which is what she is all about.
